The reason this is my favorite peice is because I love the various of colour presented by light in a warm colour temperature. The layers in the picture was introduced in three dimention-like image. The mirror Hoffos chose to have at the end of the buildings made continuing scene of buildings glowing in the dark.
I am very honored to have a known contemporary artist as a guest in our DIVA class today. It is interesting to know his background and his past. It was especailly shocking to know his student life and past marriage and is still able to build his artwork and settle his life now as he is standing today.
I have never experince such artwork. He have made alot of illusionary work of human figures by shooting films of moving figure on to layered two dimentional surface. It created a form of life size three dimentional view for the audience. Collections of everyday life movements from young children to adults, nature to objects, David Hoffos draws viewers’ attention not only onto the creative two dimentional installation he provided, but also the personal space and experinces that would reflect on the individuals. His ways of constructing the scenes carefully narrated the spirtuality of human race by giving life to the two dimentioanl figures. Lots of his work concentrated on the process of everyday life. Most of his filmed human figures are taken by an act of a natural movement and reaction to a certain subject. I appreciate his focus on the natural state of human life and bring it to a stage. As an audience, I experienced the interpretation of individual lives being watch by other individual given expectations on different vaules.
